Coffee Time
I have coffee every morning in a funky cafe. I keep a journal where I record all of my thoughts: negative, positive or inspirational. These include sketches for new work or details of works in progress. I decided to use this as a taking-off point for this series. Starting with used coffee filters the ideas came full-force as they were a metaphor for my everyday life. After a while I was journaling directly onto the filters, then painting on them, tearing them and adding other elements. The filters must be used ones as they have a slight stain and carry a history of the maker. They are more than just raw materials.
